New York, NY—The Women’s Foreign Policy Group hosted its second annual UN Study Visit during an exciting moment in UN history just after the arrival of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and his new team. The WFPG UN Study Visit focused on “The UN Under New Leadership” and gave over 100 participants an insider’s look at who these new leaders are, what important issues they are currently debating, and how they vision the future of the United Nations. Attendees included representatives from corporations, non-profits, foundations, international organizations, the diplomatic community and the media from both Washington, DC and New York.

The program featured top UN officials and ambassadors and covered UN reform, humanitarian challenges from Darfur to Afghanistan, pressing issues facing the Security Council, influenza pandemic preparedness, US priorities at the UN, and challenges for the UN in the future. The event also included a VIP Luncheon featuring the new US Ambassador to the UN, H.E. Zalmay Khalilzad, as the keynote speaker.
