Beyond the Headlines These events highlight prominent officials and journalists, taking you beyond the headlines and providing context for the key issues shaping foreign policy. The series was launched in 2010 with a luncheon featuring US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke.

Embassy Series Embassy Series events are held at embassies, consulates, and diplomatic residences in Washington and New York and highlight issues pertinent to the host country. This series rotates to cover different regions of the world. Recent events have been hosted by the Ambassadors of the UK, Jordan, and Finland.

Author Series Our Author Series features authors and prominent journalists. Recent programs have covered the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, women's leadership, and the Middle East. This series was launched in 2005 with NBC News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent Andrea Mitchell.

Celebrating Women Leaders Luncheons WFPG benefit luncheons honor key women leaders in international affairs. Speakers have included secretaries of state, foreign ministers, heads of state, and UN leaders. Speakers have included: Condoleezza Rice, Hillary Clinton, Madeleine Albright, Michelle Bachelet, Helen Clark, and Susan Rice.

State Department Briefings Our State Department Series highlights senior-level officials, who give our members and guests unique insight into US foreign policy making. Bureaus represented in recent programs include: Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, International Organizations, and Population, Refugees and Migration.

UN Briefings and Luncheons These programs highlight the UN's progress and challenges. Conferences and programs include briefings from top officials and diplomats and provide a forum for in-depth discussion. Issues addressed have included: climate change, protecting women and children in conflict zones, and peacekeeping.

Celebrating Women Diplomats In 2006 WFPG held its first Celebration of Women Diplomats to honor women ambassadors to the US, UN permanent representatives, and consuls general and highlight their contributions to foreign policy and their own countries. WFPG now holds annual receptions and programs in DC and NY.

Build Your Career WFPG hosts professional development events throughout the year to help support our members at every stage of their careers. Programs include skills-focused and career-specific discussions as well as larger panel discussions and our annual NGO and Government career fair.

Young Professional Network WFPG's YP Network is a member-led discussion group which hosts professional development, mentoring and smaller substantive issues discussions in person in DC, NY, and online--as well as networking happy hours and social events..

Mentoring Forums WFPG's Mentoring Forums encourage and promote the next generation of leaders by providing students and young professionals the opportunity to meet with international affairs professionals to discuss career experiences and to learn firsthand what tools are needed to excel in their fields. Annual mentoring forums are held in Washington, DC and New York.
