WFPG's Statement on the Events of 7/16
The Women’s Foreign Policy Group is saddened by the act of political violence that was carried out in Pennsylvania on Saturday. As a nonpartisan organization that advocates for mutual understanding and furthering the foreign policy conversation beyond political divides, we echo the words of many: violence has no place in politics. WFPG calls for unity and healing across the country and will continue to foster dialogue and collaboration, both at home and abroad. At this integral moment in our country’s history, it is now more important than ever that we stand together in our shared humanity.

Events and Programming

WFPG is an impactful organization that utilizes the talents of diverse women in foreign policy -- from Cabinet members, Members of Congress, ambassadors, and CEOs, to students and young professionals. WFPG’s global policy programs highlight some of the most important issues of the day while amplifying the voices of the women doing vital work.

Past WFPG stakeholders include: Secretaries Madeleine Albright, Condoleezza Rice, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and John Kerry; U.S. officials and Cabinet members including U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield, and international leaders, among them President of Chile Michelle Bachelet, President of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna, and corporate leaders including Goldman Sachs Managing Director Dina Habib Powell and Northrop Grumman Vice President for International Programs Andrea L. Thompson.

At WFPG, we believe that increasing women's participation and leadership at all levels of policy-making is crucial to bolstering gender equality and to building a more peaceful and prosperous world.

Mentoring and Professional Development

WFPG is unique because of our commitment to mentorship of the next generation of women foreign policy leaders. We provide two monthly mentoring programs, “Career Pathways” and “Mentor Minutes”. In addition, we facilitate a direct mentor-mentee link between rising stars and real-time role models through a year-long mentorship program, “Mentor Match,” with the aim to create win-win professional relationships.

Our Academic Council, Diplomatic Council, and Corporate Council contribute diverse offerings to our members, making WFPG a forum where women of all ages can broaden their networks, mentor those new to the field, and be mentored by those who have come before them. As champions of women’s leadership, education, and economic opportunity, we are proud of our role in developing the next generation of women leaders in international affairs.
