Official WFPG Statement on the Crisis in Afghanistan

Women’s Foreign Policy Group stands in solidarity with women and girls in Afghanistan as the Taliban takes control of the country. This includes the right of women to live and work in safety and security. We recognize the dedication and tenacity of many women leaders and advocates, and pledge to do all we can to mobilize our community to ensure their safety and wellbeing. We ask from those involved in any peace negotiations to ensure that the rights of women and girls are safeguarded.

The Women’s Foreign Policy Group is a network of over 18,000 gender champions dedicated to advancing women’s leadership and voices in international affairs through mentorship, career development, and global issues forums. WFPG is unique because it brings together prominent senior-level professionals with students and aspiring leaders, bridging generational divides, sectors, and professional disciplines. Our board members are currently focused on providing humanitarian aid, helping ensure the safety of so many women and girls who remain in Afghanistan and those trying to get out. WFPG remains committed to the people of Afghanistan, especially the Afghan women and girls. Learn how you can help

Providing the next generation with the tools to succeed is central to promoting women’s leadership in foreign affairs. WFPG provides a forum where women of all ages can broaden their networks, mentor those new to the field, and be mentored by those who have come before them through mentoring forums and 1:1 mentoring programs. WFPG also holds regular skills-focused webinars focused on virtual networking, interviews, salary negotiation, and career transitions.
